We are looking for a Tax Manager to lead a team and provide tax advisory services to a portfolio of both local and international clients.
Your Responsibilities:
- Managing the preparation of engagement plans and ensuring appropriate resources are assigned
- Dealing with clients and the tax authorities daily
- Providing quality tax advice, including the drafting of tax reports or reviewing of tax reports prepared by junior members of staff in relation to both domestic and international tax matters
- Advising complex clients on how they can maximise tax efficiency in relation to their business structures and activities, as well as the tax implications of corporate transactions and restructuring activities
- Providing solutions to non-routine and/or complex tax issues;
- Understanding and interpreting applicable double taxation treaty provisions and applying them to client scenarios
- Identifying and mitigating tax risks while establishing an appropriate process for tax management
- Reviewing tax rulings and supporting documentation
- Keeping abreast with tax developments locally and internationally and contributing to the firm’s Knowledge Base.
Requirements:
- Hold an MQF level 7 qualification in a relevant subject
- A minimum of 6 years of experience working in Tax, with experience leading or mentoring team members
- A broad understanding of macro-economic issues, regulatory requirements, and an excellent understanding of taxation strategies, double tax treatie, and routine tax matters such as income tax, indirect tax, personal and corporate tax
- Excellent knowledge of Malta's tax law, double tax treaties, EU directives, and developments in international taxation as well as their practical implications
- Able to easily apply tax knowledge to practical situations and develop creative ways to obtain the most advantageous fiscal position for clients
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
