We are looking for a Tax Manager to lead a team and provide tax advisory services to a portfolio of both local and international clients.
Your Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of complex local and international clients on all tax matters.</li>
<li>Manage direct interaction with clients and tax authorities, including correspondence, queries and complex matters.</li>
<li>Build and maintain strong client relationships through a deep understanding of client structures, transactions and circumstances.</li>
<li>Support Partners on engagements, including fee negotiation, billing, profitability and ownership of WIP and debtor positions.</li>
<li>Lead and oversee the delivery of tax compliance for complex clients, including review and approval of advanced tax computations, returns and refund claims.</li>
<li>Interpret and apply Maltese tax legislation, double taxation treaties, EU directives and international tax principles.</li>
<li>Provide high‑quality tax advisory services on domestic and international matters, including restructurings and complex transactions.</li>
<li>Analyse and advise on the tax implications of non‑routine or complex transactions, ensuring technically robust and tax‑effective outcomes.</li>
<li>Identify and manage tax risks, approve appropriate tax treatments and maintain effective tax management processes.</li>
<li>Maintain effective working relationships with the Inland Revenue Department on complex matters.</li>
<li>Keep up to date with local and international tax developments and contribute to the firm’s technical knowledge base.</li>
<li>Lead and manage a tax team, ensuring clear delegation, supervision and accountability across engagements.</li>
<li>Review team output, provide technical guidance and coaching, and support performance management and recruitment.</li>
<li>Coordinate workflows and resources to ensure timely delivery and efficient service.</li>
<li>Ensure firm policies, due diligence requirements and internal procedures are consistently applied.</li>
<li>Contribute to internal training, technical guidance and continuous improvement initiatives.</li>
</ul>
Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Hold an MQF level 7 qualification in a relevant subject</li>
<li>A minimum of 6 years of experience working in Tax, with experience leading or mentoring team members</li>
<li>A broad understanding of macro-economic issues, regulatory requirements, and an excellent understanding of taxation strategies, double tax treatie, and routine tax matters such as income tax, indirect tax, personal and corporate tax</li>
<li>Excellent knowledge of Malta's tax law, double tax treaties, EU directives, and developments in international taxation as well as their practical implications</li>
<li>Able to easily apply tax knowledge to practical situations and develop creative ways to obtain the most advantageous fiscal position for clients</li>
<li>Fluency in English, both written and verbal</li>
